Freshly Painted Pulp Figures

I just received around 30 pulp figures back from Doc Merkury who did a great job painting these for me. I am currently going through the finishing process and will post pics when they are done. I really like how the Ogre companion came out.

Where Heroes Dare! With A Science Fiction Spin

One of the designers of Where Heroes Dare! has been working on a science fiction version and he took the time to host a game. His table was awesome and the game was a lot of fun. Like WHD!, the game is about creating a story line and major characters are often just captured when they fall instead of dying. Pre-painted Star Wars figures work well for this game and that is what we used.

The Republic forces landed in an attempt to determine if General Grievous was building some kind of secret weapon, but instead are caught in a trap and have to try to escape. Obi-wan manages to escape but is forced to leave Anakin behind when he falls to become General Grievous' prisoner.

Something is about to happen ....

 

... that hasn't happened in an age. I painted something!

So, I have had these Wargames Factory Romans for years now and I finally did something with them.

I built the entire box and painted one stand to test the process and colors out. We'll see if I can get the rest done in the next 10 years, ;-) I built a few Numidians for psiloi and some light cav too for a DBA army. I think the test stand came out pretty good. If the rest come out equally as good, I will be happy.

US Moderns

Doc Merkury's recent moderns in Afghanistan post inspired me to finish my moderns. Doc Merkury actually painted these too. I spent last week and the weekend basing and finishing these along with some other figs. I also just ordered a bunch of Taliban figures from The Assault Group to give these guys someone to fight.

Cold Wars Aquisitions

I was looking to get a river boat of some sort and decided to go with the Miniature Building Authority's version. I think it needs a few additions, but I got a great deal on it. I also purchased an Old Glory torpedo boat. It seems like it has plenty of pulp potential.

 

Now, if I could just get either of these on the table, all would be grand! :-)
I also picked up a copy of Conflict of Heroes: Awakening the Bear. The big draw on this particular game was hearing of a solo expansion to be released in the near future.

Disposable Heroes

  Tonight, R. Lee and I played a little Disposable Heroes, something neither of us has done in quite some time. We had a good time and I hope we do this again soon. The game was a non-historical situation with R. Lee fielding 800 points of Italian Paratroopers and I fielded my US Airborne with an early war Sherman in support.

TSC Toys for Modern Wargames

  We visited a Tractor Supply over the weekend and I scored one of their toy sets that included crates, trucks, fork lift, pallets and a loading dock. I think the scale of the package is mostly 1:43, but I think the items will work fine for SuperSystem and Zombie games.

28mm Heroclix Minis For SuperSystem

  The "G06 - Base HeroClix Minis" goal is now complete. Actually these aren't all HeroClix minis, but most of them are. I have about half of the stats available and as soon as I finish those off I'll be ready to host a game.

Bench Update

  Doc M. delivered the miniatures today he has been painting for me as promised. There is 7 pulp figs, 11 WWII gun crew figs and 15 US moderns. With the holiday approaching it will probably take me until after Turkey day to finish basing and dullcoating. You can see the last 4 stands (chariots) in the background for My New Kingdom Egyptian DBA army and I am working on character sheets for Super System too.

Fantasy Rules! 3: 1000 Pt Orc & Goblin Army

 Another pre-painted fantasy army. I just finished basing these a few days ago. All of the figures are from the D&D Minis line of pre-painted fantasy figures and I think this army is the best looking of all the pre-painted fantasy armies I have done or plan to do. I also have an addtional 500 points for fighting the wars of Middle Earth to fill out the ranks against the free peoples. Enjoy!

Fantasy Rules! 3: 1000 Pt Hill Dwarf Army

  I have several armies at or near completion for Fantasy Rules! 3. I built these armies from the abundance of D&D miniatures I have collected over the years and some odds and ends from other fanstasy games like Mage Knight. In this entry I am showcasing Hill Dwarves. Drow, Orc, goblin and Elven armies are not too far off. The Human, Reptilian and Undead armies have not been started yet. Some of these armies are for generic fantasy play and others are purpose built for the day when I recreate the wars of Middle Earth. Enjoy ....
